chocolate bark

Chocolate. Have I said enough? How about coconut, peanut butter cups, pretzels, slivered almonds, potato chips, toffee, and dried cranberries? Still not enough? How about if I told you this was one of the easiest edible gifts you can make this holiday season. Throw in whatever ingredients you like, and you have a sweet and salty homemade edible gift.
All right, enough said. Time to get your bark on.

2 bags of chocolate chips
toppings of your choice

Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Using a ruler and a pencil, draw a 9 by 10-inch rectangle on the paper. Turn the paper faced down on the baking sheet. {tip via Barefoot Contessa}
If applicable, chop up larger candy pieces and crumble chips.
Pour the chocolates in a heatproof bowl and set over a pan of simmering water. Stir until the chocolates have melted.
Once chocolate has melted, quickly pour it on to the parchment paper. Spread it out with a spatula forming a rectangle. Add on toppings. Once you have added all the toppings set aside for about 2 hours until firm.
After chocolate has cooled and is firm I like to wrap it with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator. Break off in big pieces once you are ready to serve, or gift! Place in a plastic candy bag, an antique tin, or a cigar box

  1. This looks like such an elegant gift and delicious too. Especially anything that has chips and chocolate! Will be on my to do list!
